Back The Same, like Instead, started to take root about a year before I moved to Nashville. It's a song about the "big con" a lot of us play when something is really over... the con that makes you believe it's not. I spent a good two years dragging that thought with me everywhere I went... the thought of a pilot light igniting some remaining flammables. I wore the denial out. It even traveled with me through other relationships, which obviously led to their failure. We dubbed Back The Same title track of E.I.W.O.F.I.S.T. and it has also been a part of a free EP we released in February of 2009. In the end, the denial went away and I was left with a choice. I could live with the misery that I hated but felt comfortable in... or, I could move on and leave the past behind... That idea was the start to another song on the record... Stranger Things. - Josh

i'm not finding words that could greet my inner mind set i'm eloquently in distress and i'm eloquently such a mess and i'm over things that help me fake some phony type of intellect i'd creep and crawl right out my chair and raise my hands in the air just to let you know that you're on my mind and my heart can't swing that motion but we can try to fake like friends but we'll end up back the same i know it and i'm not counting time yet cause i'm young enough to waste it i'm laughing at my lack of trust and all i love and work so much my pains expense my countenance is over driven over working i'm dumb enough to speak my mind but smart enough to not let you know that you're on my mind and you've been that way for a long time and we can try to fake like friends but we'll end up back the same i know it
