about

Stranger Things starts off as the calm after the storm and ends with another emotional experience all together. When thinking about how Stranger Things comes out of One More Song, the previous track, It makes me think about a really ridiculous cry fest and the calm that usually comes afterward. It's an extremely eerie calm that fills you with this drained feeling that's kind of indescribable. I think that's what Stranger Things was to me, just a summation and a look back on all that had gone on after the storm. If One More Song was the last in the strain of "that type" of song, than Stranger Things is the road to reflection. I wrote Stranger Things in the Middle of recording the record... It didn't have any sort of pre-production, we just went in a did it. Both Tom and Ben's parts are some of my favorite on the record. Simple but powerful. The day that everything was tracked for this song, I can't even describe the feeling of completion I felt. We battled for a long time about whether it should go last or not. In the end, we all agreed it should for the reasoning above. I loved that the guys latched on the reasoning behing song placements and theme inputs. - Josh

lyrics

it's a long road a dark and twisted freak we're stuck on so i'll wait on the shoulder cause' i fear we won't find our way back using the crumbs i have been adventurous enough so you should go on with out me babe And this gravel's giving me sores like a bed that you can't leave much i'm waiting for all these clouds to clear i'm waiting to find someone or for you to find someone who knocks you off of your feet so you can just forget about me i swear i won't act shocked at all i'll pretend i saw it coming all along And you can rip my heart from my hand cause' it's been outstretched for far too long and i can't quite hold it up anymore cause this has been a long road a dark and twisted freak that i've been stuck on and i'm still on the shoulder cause i fear i won't find my way back using the crumbs i've been more adventurous than most would have been so just go on without me please be sure to take my heart when you go it's heavy as hell so dispose of it however you want and just go on without me
